Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie (M.P.), Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, had a courtesy call from H.E. Tong Defa, the People’s Republic of China’s ambassador to Ghana, at the Ministry on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.

Strengthening Ghana-China bilateral cooperation in promoting tourism, fostering cultural interchange, and assisting Ghana’s creative arts sector were the main objectives of the summit.

Ghana’s involvement in fairs and exhibitions, investments in tourism infrastructure, and cultural exchange programs are just a few of the prospects for collaborative projects that H.E. Tong Defa emphasized. He also conveyed China’s ongoing commitment in strengthening cultural diplomacy.

Recognizing the close historical and cultural ties between the two countries, both sides emphasized the value of respect for one another and cooperation in advancing innovation and legacy.

The Hon. Minister reaffirmed the government’s resolve to establish Ghana as a West African center for cultural tourism and embraced China’s financial and technical assistance in realizing this goal.

Using the occasion, she invited the Chinese Embassy to take part in forthcoming cultural events and to look into joint film, music, and historical preservation projects.

The Ambassador and the Hon. Minister used the occasion of the bilateral discussion to talk about the restoration of Ghana’s National Theatre.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Divine K. Owusu-Ansah, Director of Culture and Creative Arts, Mr. Geoffrey Tamakloe, Director of Tourism, and Hon. Yusif Issaka Jajah (M.P.), Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts. Eason Wong, a representative of the Chinese Embassy in Accra, accompanied H.E. Tong.
