At Nationalism Park, Abla Dzifa Gomashie formally opened Ghana Heritage Month in 2026 and called for further efforts to protect and promote Ghanaian culture.
Under the theme “Experience Ghana, My Heritage, My Pride (Taste 69@69),” the festival, which was organised by the Ministry through the Ghana Tourism Authority, also signalled the beginning of the annual Vodza Regatta.
The Minister underlined the importance of tourism, culture, and the creative arts in creating jobs, empowering women and youth, and promoting domestic travel.
She also praised the National Folklore Board and the Ghana Culture Forum for furthering Ghana’s efforts to recognise its cultural heritage.

Heritage Month is both a cultural celebration and an economic activation strategy, according to GTA CEO Maame Efua Houadjeto. Activities include a nationwide Heritage Caravan, discounted access to heritage sites, the “Taste 69@69” culinary showcase, and the launch of an improved Ghana Travel portal and revitalised GTA digital platform.
The Deputy Minister, Hon. Yussif Issaka Jajah, sector directors, traditional authorities, diplomats, stakeholders, and the media were present at the launch, all of whom were working together to promote Ghana’s legacy as a source of pride and sustainable development.
