Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is scheduled to deliver his final verdict in the long-running Bawku chieftaincy mediation on Monday, December 1, 2025, at the Manhyia Palace.

President John Dramani Mahama charged the Asantehene with leading efforts to end the decades-old Bawku feud.

His engagement in the mediation dates back to April of this year, when he met with representatives from both groups on April 28 and 30 to begin a new chapter of conversation.

Although conversations were momentarily halted, they resumed on May 13, and the Asantehene noted that the talks had contributed to a period of relative quiet in the region.

The Bawku municipality has experienced ongoing violence and increased tension for years, with occasional attacks that have resulted in fatalities and the implementation of curfews intended to quell discontent.

In addition to upsetting livelihoods and straining community ties, the situation has raised national awareness of the pressing need for a long-term peace agreement.

The Manhyia Palace claims that today’s meeting is the result of a comprehensive effort to promote peace.

The ultimate declaration, according to many locals and observers, will put a stop to the sporadic bloodshed and devastation that have afflicted Bawku for years.

The conflict-ridden enclave is projected to see a return to stability, peace, and growth as a result of the impending verdict.
