Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has engaged the Commercial Quarry Operators Association as part of his ongoing policy dialogue series aimed at gathering ideas to support Ghana’s economic development.
The discussions focused on ways to strengthen Ghana’s quarry industry, expand job creation, promote sustainable economic growth and improve environmental protection within the sector.
Dr. Bawumia said meaningful national development requires listening to businesses and stakeholders whose activities contribute significantly to the economy. He noted that the experience and recommendations of quarry operators could help inform practical policies that address challenges facing the industry.
The quarry sector plays an important role in Ghana’s construction and infrastructure development, supplying materials needed for roads, buildings and other major projects.
Meanwhile, preparations for Ghana’s 2027 Budget are gaining momentum, with government institutions participating in consultations ahead of the budget presentation scheduled for November.
Budget hearings were held last week with several ministries, departments and institutions to gather inputs and assess key priorities for the upcoming fiscal year.
The engagement forms part of efforts to develop policies and programmes that can support economic growth, job creation, business development and sustainable national development.
The stakeholders involved in the budget hearings were also commended for their participation, with appreciation extended to the Ministers of State and their respective teams for their time, contributions and input into the 2027 national budget preparation process.
