Recent statements made by Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako and his Bono counterpart Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye DC, have been sharply criticised by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership, which calls them reckless, deceptive, and completely inconsistent with the Party’s principles.
The NPP cautioned the public and its stakeholders to ignore the “unguarded comments” in a statement signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong.
It emphasised that no one, regardless of position or influence, has the exclusive power to decide how to compile polling station albums.
“The process is governed strictly by established rules and compliance procedures, which cannot be bent to suit personal whims or parochial interests,” the statement said.
Mr Kodua Frimpong gave his word that the National Secretariat would eventually publish transparent and unambiguous standards to ensure honesty and equity throughout the entire process.
He called on party supporters and polling station managers to treat such deceptive statements with “the utmost contempt they deserve.”
Additionally, the party categorically denied Mr Antwi Boasiako’s allegations that the presidential primary scheduled for January 31, 2026, was rigged to favour a specific candidate.
The accusation was characterised by leadership as “false, mischievous, and without merit.”
The announcement claims that the date was chosen after much deliberation by the National Council, the Party’s highest decision-making body.
The leadership declared, “No single individual can manipulate or dictate the will of the Party’s supreme body.”
The NPP explained that the early congress was a calculated decision that would allow the Party enough time to reposition itself, reorganise, and get ready to take back power in 2028.
The NPP emphasised that its leadership will continue to maintain the greatest standards of integrity, transparency, and discipline in all electoral procedures, reinforcing its dedication to internal democracy.
The statement added, “The NPP remains unshakably committed to fairness and integrity. No amount of propaganda or reckless talk will derail the Party from its chosen path.”
