The Cocoa Marketing Company (Ghana) Limited (CMC) has introduced a new 24-hour operational system aimed at improving the movement of cocoa through Ghana’s logistics, processing and export value chain.
The initiative, launched by CMC Managing Director Wisdom Kofi Dogbey, is designed to accelerate cocoa handling, transportation and export activities while reducing delays across the supply chain.
The new 24-hour cocoa operations model is built around three key pillars: Offload 24, Load 24 and Export 24. The initiative is expected to strengthen efficiency in Ghana’s cocoa export sector and support faster delivery of cocoa to international markets.
The programme forms part of CMC’s contribution to President John Dramani Mahama’s 24-Hour Economy policy and the Accelerated Export Development Programme, which seek to increase economic activity, expand exports and create more opportunities within Ghana’s productive sectors.
The launch attracted key stakeholders from across the cocoa and logistics industries, including representatives from the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Licensed Buying Companies (LBCs), cocoa processing companies, Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), Meridian Port Services (MPS), Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), shipping companies, hauliers and international cocoa buyers.
Other participants included the Quality Control Company and various industry stakeholders involved in cocoa production, transportation, processing and export.
The CMC 24-hour operational model is expected to improve coordination across the cocoa supply chain, increase export efficiency and strengthen Ghana’s position as a major global cocoa exporter.
