In order to prevent the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) from detaining the former presidential staffer, Charles Bissue’s attorneys filed an ex-parte application with the Human Rights Court, which was presided over by Justice Nicholas Abodakpi.

Charles Bissue’s attorney, Nana Agyei Baffour, filed an ex-parte petition in court today, June 15, 2023, to halt the Special Prosecutor from pursuing his client until the outcome of three cases his client has filed. The first of these petitions is to stop the OSP from looking into Charles Bissue after the Police did so and cleared him of all wrongdoing.

The first of these petitions is to stop the OSP from looking into Charles Bissue after the Police did so and cleared him of all wrongdoing.

Additionally, it prevents the OSP from requesting any additional arrest warrants while the court decides on the main issue Charles Bissue has filed, as well as from announcing the applicant as wanted while the main issue is being decided.

The case was subsequently postponed by Justice Nicholas Abodakpi’s court to Thursday, June 22, 2023.

Charles Cromwell Nanabayin Onuawonto Bissue, the former secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), was declared wanted by the Special Prosecutor on Tuesday, June 13, 2023.

The action was taken a few days after the Special Prosecutor obtained a court order directing the arrest of Bissue.

According to a statement from the office, the IMCIM was disbanded due to allegations of corruption, crimes related to corruption, including the misuse of public office and the management of excavators, equipment, vehicles, and gold nuggets.
