The Ghana Police Service has stated that it has decentralized criminal clearance services nationwide as a first step toward a fully automated procedure as part of its transformational goal to improve the delivery of policing services to the general people.
People seeking criminal clearance may do so in any of the 25 Police regions nationwide as of Monday, May 22, 2023.
All criminal background checks are now only performed at the CID Headquarters in Accra, thus anyone needing this service must travel all the way to Accra specifically for this reason.
According to the Police service, the decentralization of the criminal clearance procedure will increase service accessibility and convenience for people around the nation, putting another policing service closer to the public’s front door.
The service keeps pleading with the general people to help it in its mission to become the best institution in the nation and a model for Africa and beyond.
