Deontay Wilder vs Derek Chisora fight rumours spread across social media
According to Brunch Boxing, former WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder will face world title contender Derek Chisora in April 2026 in the UK.
Writer Matthew Brown from Brunch Boxing reported that ‘sources’ had confirmed the breaking news, however, Wilder has long been linked for a fight with unified world heavyweight champion, Oleksandr Usyk in America next, with the WBC recently giving the champion the green light to defend his world titles to the voluntary challenger.
It was also reported that a press conference to announce the fight will be taking place in London next week.
Now aged 40, Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KOs) has won two from his last six contests, with back-to-back defeats to Tyson Fury, followed by a points loss from Joseph Parker in 2023, then he suffered a brutal knockout at the hands of ‘Big Bang’ Zhilei Zhang in June 2024.
The Alabaman came back last June with a seventh-round stoppage of Texan champion Tyrell Herndon on an obscure show in Kansas, broadcast on BLK Prime.
Despite his advanced age and recent reverses, the former WBC world heavyweight champion still boasts a fearsome 97.73% KO ratio.
42-year-old veteran Chisora (36-13, 23 KOs) has been searching for an opponent to face him for his 50th and final fight for a year now.
The Londoner was last in action in February 2025 when he decisioned Swedish southpaw Otto Wallin in Manchester.
A match-up between Wilder and Chisora in London would be a fan-friendly, exciting event, but it seems uncertain, considering both men have been offered/linked to separate world title fights.
Usyk has publicly said for many weeks how he wants to face Wilder in the American’s home country, just so that he can claim to have beaten all of the top three heavyweights of his era, having already scalped Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury twice each.
And newly-installed WBO world heavyweight titlist, Fabio Wardley, has also accepted the idea of making his maiden defence to fellow Briton Chisora, with a future title defence against Tyson Fury mooted for later in the year.
For both Wilder and Chisora to turn down world title fights to meet each other in the ring instead doesn’t appear to make much sense at first, but a clash between them would be an exciting, all-action watch for fight fans.
