Despite never having held the office of president, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia claims to have made significant contributions to Ghana’s development through the Akufo-Addo administration.
Dr. Bawumia stated: “I am always driven by public service, not the desire for personal gains” when speaking to members of the ruling New Patriotic Party in Donkorkrom, Afram Plains North constituency, last Saturday.
In order to continue to contribute to the transformation of our nation, Dr. Bawumia remarked, “I am offering myself first to be chosen as our party’s flagbearer, and then I can offer myself to the people of Ghana.” Dr. Bawumia claimed that as vice president, he had accomplished a lot for Ghana.
While serving as vice president, Dr. Bawumia said, “I haven’t been president, but I have worked so hard and made a significant contribution to the development of our country through landmark policies I have initiated and spearheaded.”
One Constituency-One Ambulance, the Agenda 111 hospital, the Digital Addressing System, the digitization of the ports, passport offices, and the DVLA, as well as the creation of the ghana.gov payment platform, the deployment of the money interoperability system, and the e-Pharmacy platform are a few of these policies.
In the flagbearer race, Dr. Bawumia is competing against nine other candidates.
In order to reduce the number of candidates to five before the primary primaries on November 4, 2023, the party will convene a super delegates meeting on August 26, 2023.
