In order to help meet the immediate needs of LEAP beneficiaries, the Ghanaian government, through the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, in collaboration with the World Bank and UNICEF, launched an emergency cash transfer after an eight-week dry spell that seriously disrupted agricultural activity and threatened food security across eight regions: Bono, Bono East, Oti, Northern, North-East, Savannah, Upper East, and Upper West.

MoGCSP has established teams to supervise the distribution of the “Dry Spell Emergency Cash Transfer” to Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) Program beneficiary families in order to guarantee the activity’s successful execution.

The team’s objective is to guarantee accountability and openness while making sure that all eligible households receive the help they are due without any obstacles.

More than 212,000 LEAP households in all 5,210 communities throughout the impacted regions will get a one-time cash transfer of GHS 1,000 as part of this effort.

The Ministry is dedicated to making sure that every household gets the help they need to satisfy their immediate requirements and overcome the negative effects of the dry spell.
