No office within Jubilee House is allowed to have a subscription to DStv or any other satellite television provider, according to government spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu.
He clarified that this is a component of the Mahama administration’s intentional attempts to cut back on public spending and encourage modest governance.
The action, according to Mr. Kwakye Ofosu, demonstrates President John Mahama’s dedication to responsible use of public funds and wise financial management.
“I can reveal to you that if you come to this house, there’s no office that is allowed to subscribe to DStv or any satellite television,” he said.
He emphasized that the total savings are significant, even though he understood that some people might consider the prohibition to be a small matter.
“You may consider it trivial, but when the cost was calculated, it amounted to significant public funds.
This is one of many measures the President has taken to reduce unnecessary spending,” he added.
He claims that only local channels are available on any of the televisions in use at the Jubilee House.
“You can turn on any TV here and you’ll see only local stations. That’s what we use,” he said, adding that in order to guarantee value for money, the policy would be duplicated in other government agencies.
President Mahama is a leader who is dedicated to making institutional and personal sacrifices for the benefit of the nation, according to Kwakye Ofosu, who commended him for setting an example.
“Governance involves making tough decisions. But leaders must also show modesty in their actions, and that is exactly what President Mahama is doing,” he said.
He revealed this information on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, in an interview with JoyNews.
