The Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, and the Ghanaian Electoral Commission (EC) has stated that it would be televised live.

The EC claims that this action is being taken to encourage accountability and openness in its interactions with political parties.

“The meeting aims at providing an opportunity to Political Parties to present any findings they may have with the Provisional Voters Register (PVR).

According to a statement from the Deputy Chairman in Charge of Operations, Samuel Tettey, “it will also afford the Commission an opportunity to present an updated report on issues it has resolved with the PVR.”

Dr. Omane Boamah, the National Democratic Congress’s director of elections, had petitioned the EC to allow live media coverage of the October 1, 2024, Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting.

On September 30, 2024, Dr. Boamah advocated for Ghanaians to be informed of the debates as they occur in a Facebook post, emphasizing the importance of transparency.

He said, “The EC must allow the media to provide live coverage of the proceedings at the IPAC meeting,” emphasizing that doing so will assist ensure that the public is informed accurately and prevent the spread of false information.

He also emphasized the NDC’s insistence on a forensic assessment of the voter registration database and its IT infrastructure, claiming that these problems cannot be adequately addressed during the IPAC meeting. “The truth is, #EAGLEEYES intercepted information shows as of yesterday, the Electoral Commission was still struggling to resolve voters whose names are still missing from the voters register.”
