According to Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has more qualified men and women to govern the country’s economy and affairs than the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He claimed it was obvious the NPP lacked the personnel to effectively manage based on the appalling performance of its ministers and appointments, which had brought the economy to its lowest point.
The aforementioned was remarked by Mr. Mahama last Wednesday in Accra during the inauguration of three committees of the NDC Professional Forum (Proforum).
The NDC Professionals Forum is a group of professionals and former NDC government officials who want to support and strengthen the NDC in its quest to regain power.
Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the NDC vice presidential candidate for the 2020 elections, and Julius Debrah, the chief of staff for the previous NDC administration, were among the other dignitaries in attendance.
According to the former president, there was no doubt that the NDC had the competent and experienced persons for the mission of saving the country when given the opportunity given the variety of professionals and experienced personalities displayed for membership of the various committees.
He added that despite being the party’s newest organ, the ProForum had shown itself to be vibrant and looked forward to the party’s approval at the following congress so that it could be fully recognized as an affiliate of the NDC.
In the presidential and legislative elections of 2024, Mr. Mahama predicted that the NDC would win by a landslide thanks to the kind of planning and strategies that the ProForum was developing with the party.
He expressed his confidence that the ProForum would make use of its expertise to assist the party in recruiting and preparing qualified party electoral agents for the 2024 elections, adding that the party was in charge of overseeing the elections from the polling places all the way up to the collation centers and the Elections Commission’s main office.
The NDC Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, who oversaw the event, promised the crowd that the NDC’s chances of winning the general election in 2024 were improving every day.
He reaffirmed the party’s adamant opposition to the Electoral Commission’s plan to deploy the Ghana Card as the only traceable voting method in the election of 2024.
He emphasized that the National Identification Authority (NIA) had made it clear that it did not, in its current shape, have the capacity and capability to register all Ghanaians before 2024. “The party will fight and utilize all legal measures possible to secure a level playing field for all,” he said.
Mr. Ampofo praised the ProForum for its organizational skills and the many initiatives it put in place to help the nation escape its current gloom.
Speaking to the crowd, the party’s general secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, acknowledged the Proforum’s efforts, which had come at the perfect time, and wished it luck in its goals.
Sam Pee Yalley, the ProForum’s president, revealed that the three committees had been formed in response to a request made by the previous president at the Forum’s most recent meeting in Ejuso for easier operations and the realization of organizational goals.
In order to position the NDC in a favorable position for its aspirations to retake power, he continued, the Forum had created an electoral manual for party agents to utilize.
