At the 2025 KOPIST Forum in South Korea, Ghana is a champion of community-based ecotourism.

Ghana’s delegation to the 2025 KOPIST Forum in Yeosu, South Korea, with the topic “Fostering Regional Development through Ecotourism,” was led by Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister for Tourism, Culture & Creative Arts.

The Hon. Minister highlighted Ghana’s Community-Based Ecotourism (CBET) concept during the forum, highlighting its achievements, such as Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuaries and Boabeng-Fiema. She highlighted cultural preservation, local empowerment, and sustainability.

She presented Ghana’s use of traditional dance, crafts, food, and oral history in tourism during a panel on “Local Culture and Ecotourism.” She also suggested innovations including climate adaptation, youth internet involvement, and utilizing cultural heritage like Kente.

Strategies for combining ecological protection and community development were further stimulated by a guided tour of Suncheon’s ecotourism destinations.

Ghana is still at the forefront of sustainable, inclusive travel.
