Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, today formally announced Ghana’s participation in Osaka Expo 2025 and unveiled bold plans to showcase the nation’s booming ICT industry internationally.
Commencing on April 13, 2025, the Expo will conclude on October 13, 2025. On September 11, “Ghana Day,” which honors the country’s advancements in digital technology, will be a major feature.
According to Hon. Nartey George, the Expo, which had as its subject “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” was a revolutionary opportunity to highlight Ghana’s thriving ICT industry and unleash its enormous potential.
He underlined that the occasion provides a singular chance for private sector companies in Ghana to showcase cutting-edge initiatives covering digital health, e-governance, fintech, and smart solutions.
“Our participation will be robust and impactful. We will host an exhibition of cutting-edge projects and services, showcasing Ghana’s ICT achievements to a global audience.”
“An ICT Business Forum will bring together industry leaders to discuss trends, challenges, and opportunities, while B2B sessions will connect Ghanaian institutions with Japanese counterparts, fostering dialogue and paving the way for strategic alliances.”
“These initiatives will culminate in the Ghana Day Celebration on September 11, where we will proudly celebrate our nation’s digital progress,” he outlined.

Beyond the Expo, Hon. Nartey George unveiled initiatives to strengthen relations with Japan, including the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) centered on technology transfer, cybersecurity, and digital infrastructure.
“We look forward to leveraging Japan’s expertise to train our youth and expand our digital ecosystem,” he added.
Deputy Chargé d’Affaires Mr. Naoki Mitori, speaking on behalf of the Japanese Ambassador, praised the Minister for his dedication to the ICT sector and reiterated Ghana and Japan’s thriving business, cultural, and governmental connection.
Mr. Mitori emphasized that the Expo was an important step in strengthening bilateral ties.
He mentioned two significant forthcoming events: the ongoing Osaka-Kansai World Expo, which has already drawn more than five million visitors, and the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) in August, to which Ghana is anticipated to send a high-level team.
He emphasized the significance of this partnership for both countries by confirming that the Ghanaian government will actively participate in Ghana Day at the Expo on September 11.
This concerted effort between Ghana and Japan seeks to increase investment, innovation, and sustainable development in Ghana’s ICT sector and beyond by utilizing the Expo’s worldwide platform.
