The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has denied rumors that COVID-19 is coming to an end.
As of last week, there had been 31 additional cases reported, therefore the GHS emphasized the need for ongoing vigilance and preventive actions to stop the virus’s spread.
Dr. Kwame Amponsah-Achiano, the program manager for the Expanded Programme on Immunization under the GHS, emphasized the importance of public awareness and vaccination center utilization.
“COVID is not gone, so we should not think that COVID is a thing of the past. We keep hearing that the pandemic was declared over but the pandemic has never been declared over.” Dr. Amponsah-Achiano cleared several myths about the pandemic.
“Those things have changed, and now we are witnessing COVID management and even the COVID vaccination,” he indicated.
He emphasized the change from lockdown-style emergency management to continuing COVID-19 management and immunization campaigns.
He underlined the need for ongoing adherence to preventive measures including mask use and hand cleanliness while stressing the developing response to COVID-19.
Until COVID-19 is formally declared over, Dr. Amponsah-Achiano emphasized the importance of maintaining hand cleanliness and mask wear in enclosed areas.
In order to reduce the danger of transmission, he advised homes to prioritize routine hand washing with soap and running water.
