The second part of the Nationwide Practical Training for Caterers and Head Cooks has been successfully completed by the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP), which is run by the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection.
Teams from the GSFP Secretariat trained headcooks and caterers in 13 regions throughout the nation during the last month, February 2026.
This follows the secretariat’s successful completion of the Initiative’s first phase, which included practical trainings in the Bono, Volta, and Oti Regions in December 2025.
In order to guarantee that the meals delivered under the program are healthful and nourishing, the exercise sought to provide caterers with up-to-date cooking methods and safe food handling procedures.

Additionally, by encouraging the use of locally sourced foods and supporting local agriculture, the training project aims to improve the quality, safety, and nutritional value of meals delivered to recipient students.
During both rounds, the trainings included practical workshops on important subjects such as portion control using practical methods, efficient use of soy beans as a cost-effective and healthy source of protein, food safety and hygiene, nutrition standards, and appropriate kitchen management.
In order to guarantee that schoolchildren across the nation receive wholesome meals, the Ghana School Feeding Programme continues to place a high priority on working with stakeholders, such as the Ghana Education Service and the Ministry of Food & Agriculture’s Women in Agricultural & Development Directorate.
