A new plan has been unveiled by the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC) to encourage investment and income production in the travel and tourism industry.

As part of the plan, the GTDC is collaborating with organizations like traditional councils and the Forestry Commission to oversee tourist destinations and organize activities.

A crucial element of the plan is providing minority equity shares to investors who come to the business for assistance.

Thus, the government’s interest in new tourism companies is protected while the GTDC can take a direct role in their management and financial success.

The company has created the Ghana Tourism Investment Platform (GTIP), a web-based portal that can be accessed at investintourism.org, as part of its efforts to modernize its operations.

With plans to become Africa’s largest tourism investment hub, the website offers a thorough catalog of possible travel locations and business opportunities.

The Ghana Tourism Marketplace, an online platform created to provide travelers with a safe and dependable way to make reservations for services related to tourism, will also be hosted by the GTIP.

By guaranteeing validated transactions and adherence to quality standards, the marketplace is anticipated to increase visitor comfort and confidence.

The goal of the new approach and digital platforms, according to GTDC, is to enhance the overall traveler experience while bolstering the sustainability of Ghana’s tourist sector.

One of the thirteen (13) organizations with a specific mission under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts is the Ghana Tourism Development Company Limited (GTDC).

In order to promote the growth of tourism in Ghana, it was founded in 1972 as a private limited liability company under the name Ghana Tourist Development Company in accordance with the Company’s code of 1963 (Act 176).

On February 7, 2018, the Registrar of Companies approved a special resolution that changed the name to the Ghana Tourism Development Company.

According to its regulations, GTDC is permitted to perform the following duties:

To promote and mobilize resources for investment in tourism undertakings and services.

To seek equity participation in joint ventures with Ghanaians as well as foreign concerns and individuals in tourism development projects.

To provide financial and technical assistance for small businesses in the tourism industry and improve the efficiency and level of their services.

To carry on any other business that may render profit to the operations of the Company or enhance the Property values or rights of the Company.
