Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector General of Police, met with the leaders of the main opposition National Democratic Congress and the ruling New Patriotic Party today, May 22, 2023, at the Kumawu district police headquarters.
The meeting was related to the Kumawu by-election on Tuesday.
Before, during, and after Tuesday’s by-election, the IGP warned both political parties to control their supporters and encourage them not to cause any trouble or disturb the quiet of the neighborhood.
He issued a warning that any lawlessness would be met with legal action.
Due to the passing of the incumbent MP Phillip Basoah, who was laid to rest on Saturday, May 20, 2023, a by-election has been called.
Along with Kwasi Amankwaa of the NDC, Ernest Yaw Anim of the NPP, and two independents who are both named Kwaku Duah face off in the race.
