The National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, John Mahama, claims that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is attempting to rig the 2024 election by using the Electoral Commission’s (EC) decision to bar political party operatives from participating in the current vote transfer effort.
In a document, Ghana’s electoral regulatory body instructed District Officers of the EC to permit party operatives to work at their offices throughout the ongoing vote transfer process.
The EC claims that the decision was made in accordance with regulation 22 (8) of C.I. 127 and with the intention of reducing the violent altercations that have marked the exercise.
The NDC’s nominee responded to the incident by saying that the EC and NPP’s plot to “steal” the upcoming election would fail.
