After fresh violence that is thought to be the result of a chieftaincy dispute, security forces, including police and military officers, have been sent to Nkwanta to bring peace back.

When the fighting broke out in the Tuobodom settlement on January 16, 2025, a 43-year-old lady was shot. At the moment, she is being treated at St. Joseph Catholic Hospital.

In addition, the fighting caused two homes to burn down, uprooting multiple families and instilling terror in the neighborhood.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, a government spokesperson, acknowledged the deployment of more troops to maintain peace and order in the area in a social media update.

“Regarding the Nkwanta clashes, believed to stem from a chieftaincy dispute, a combined team of police and military personnel was quickly deployed to restore calm.”

“Additional troops are being sent today to enforce law and order,” he posted.

Concerns about escalating tensions in the Nkwanta South District have been raised by the incident, and authorities are advising locals to maintain their composure while security measures step up.
