The 2025 edition of PANAFEST and Emancipation Day was formally started in Accra by Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, with the subject “Let Us Speak of Reparative Justice: Artistic Activism.”

Hon. Gomashie unveiled the Black Star Experience to promote historical tourism and establish Ghana as a global cultural center, emphasizing cultural healing, youth development, and diaspora solidarity.

Prominent speakers, such as Professors Esi Sutherland-Addy and Kwesi Yankah, demanded that African identity be re-centered in history and education and that actual reparations be made.

Brazil, Jamaica, the United Kingdom, and Barbados are already participating in what is expected to be a potent celebration of justice, solidarity, and resiliency.
