The government has declared that on Friday, November 28, 2025, Independence Square in Accra would host a state funeral for the late former First Lady, Mrs. Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings.

Under the direction of President John Dramani Mahama, the event will recognise Mrs. Rawlings for her significant contributions to the rights of women and children as well as her unwavering dedication to the advancement of the country.

The state funeral would honour Mrs. Rawlings’ lifetime commitment to public service and female advocacy, according to a statement released on Thursday, November 6 by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister for Government Communications and Presidential Spokesperson.

On October 23, 2025, Mrs. Rawlings, the former First Lady and originator of the 31st December Women’s Movement, departed from this life.

The public is welcome to write tributes in her honour, according to the family.
