The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced a primary schedule ahead of the Ayawaso East by-election.
In a statement issued by General Secretary Fifi Kwetey, the party stated that nominations for aspirants will open on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the regional office, with nomination papers due by Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
“Vetting, balloting, and resolution of appeals will follow on Wednesday, January 28, while the main election is expected to take place on Saturday, February 7, 2026, within the Ayawaso East constituency,” according to the statement.
The nomination form fee is GH¢5,000, while the filing fee is GH¢40,000. Female candidates and those with disabilities are eligible for a 50% reduction.
Following the passing of the current Member of Parliament, Mahama Naser Toure, the Electoral Commission (EC) has set the by-election for Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
The EC said that nominations for potential candidates will be accepted at its Ayawaso East Municipal Office in North Ridge between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 9, and 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
Interested Nomination forms must be downloaded by candidates on the Commission’s website between Friday, January 16, and Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
