A new leadership team has been chosen by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Majority Caucus in Parliament to guide the party and advance the government’s legislative agenda.
This shift follows a number of significant appointments made by President John Mahama throughout his administration, including the assignment of some Majority MPs to important ministry positions.
The promotion of Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, a former Majority Leader and economist, to the position of Minister for Finance is thought to be crucial in guiding Ghana’s economic recovery.
The caucus has chosen Mahama Ayariga, the Bawku Central MP, to take his place. In the past, Mr. Ayariga held positions as Minister of Information, Science, Technology, and Innovation, and Environment.
Additionally, Ellembelle MP Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah is moving from Deputy Majority Leader to Minister for Lands and Natural Resources as part of the reshuffle.
Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, the Cape Coast South MP who succeeded him, was a deputy finance minister before that.
In the meantime, Governs Kwame Agbodza, who has assumed the position of Minister for Roads and Highways, has been replaced as the new Majority Chief Whip by Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, MP for South Dayi.
Comfort Ada MP Doyoe Cudjoe has been appointed First Deputy Majority Chief Whip, while Bia East MP Richard Acheampong will be the Second Deputy Majority Chief Whip.
