Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the minister of education, has confirmed that textbook distribution to improve academic activity in basic schools will start the next week.

He said that the textbooks would be shipped to the Ghana Education Service’s regional warehouses before being distributed to elementary schools.

Dr. Adutwum also gave the assurance that the Ghana Post Company Limited has been hired to help distribute textbooks to educators and students over the country, guaranteeing a smooth educational experience.

In order to speed up the process, he claimed that the ministry has effectively resolved issues with publishers.

“We have eliminated all the bottlenecks that previously caused delays in the distribution of textbooks,” he assured.

“STEM schools have been established in ten regions nationwide to transform basic education and make public schools more appealing to parents,” he added.

During a conference to discuss the future of the education sector in Accra, the minister gave these promises to members of the Private Newspaper and Online Publishers Association of Ghana (PRIMPAG).

He emphasized that the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the government had worked together to modify the curriculum of some courses.

In order to foster patriotism in pupils, Dr. Adutwum emphasized the reintroduction of history classes into the Social Studies curriculum. He expressed fear that kids would graduate from basic education after 14 years without knowing anything about Ghana’s past.

He stated that this was, to put it mildly, undesirable since those who lack industry knowledge were appointed to positions of leadership.

He bragged about his achievements as a reformer and affirmed his knowledge in education.

He assured Ghanaians that the country would soon experience changes in the field, especially with the introduction of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education.
