Stephen Ntim, the national chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), disclosed that he had significant conversations with a number of presidential candidates who came up short in the party’s special delegates conference.
“With the exception of two, I have personally visited and spoken with some of the past Flagbearer aspirants in their homes. I’ll go to the other two as well in due course,” Ntim remarked.
Concerns concerning Alan Kyerematen were disregarded by Ntim in response to his withdrawal from the election on November 4 after finishing third with 95 votes in the Special Delegates Conference.
Ntim agreed that some issues had come up during his conversations with Alan, but he highlighted that there had been no sign of a wish to break connections with the group.
“I personally went to Alan’s house and spoke with him. Despite the justifications he cited for abstaining from voting in the flagbearer election, he did not express any overt hostility toward the party. However, unlike what one might have expected after our conversation, there was no indication that he was still angry.
He said, “I’ve been to Ken’s house to speak with him, I’ve been to Addai Nimoh’s home, and I’ve also been to Alan and Kyerematen Agyarko’s homes,” listing the people he had visited.
However, I want to emphasize that as the National Chairman, I took the initiative to visit them in their homes and have honest dialogues. “They did bring up some concerns,” Ntim acknowledged. They may not be completely fine, but they are in a better place.
