On Tuesday evening, June 18, 2025, at 2350 hours, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) got a distress call informing them of a fire at the Korle Bu Medical School’s Medical Laboratory Buildings.
The Laboratory buildings’ Archives, Stores, Administration, and Accounts Office were all impacted by the fire.
The fire was quickly contained at 0043 hours by firefighters from four (4) stations (Regional Headquarters Substation, Accra City, National Headquarters Substation, and Ministries Fire Stations), and it was completely extinguished at 0410 hours. There were no reported injuries.
Nearby buildings like the Allied Sciences Building, Diabetic Center, and Stores Annex were successfully shielded from the fire as a result of the prompt response.
The cause of the fire is still being looked into. The GNFS praises its staff for their commitment and quick reaction.
