The 2023 Budget Statement and Economic Policy of the Government were agreed and ratified by Parliament today, Tuesday, December 6, 2022.

The approval came after today’s debate over the budget’s adoption and approval came to a close.

Speaking in support of the resolution, Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu emphasized the several shortcomings of the NPP government and Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

He claimed that Mr. Ofori-Atta and the government had caused economic problems and had put the government under pressure as a result.

He reaffirmed the minority’s opposition to the GHS80 million budget allocation for the national cathedral as well as the 2.5% increase in the VAT, E-levy, and other taxes.

In response to the Minority Leader’s assertion, the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, emphasized that the NPP is currently in power and is a superior economic manager than the National Democratic Congress in opposition.
