Former Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) Board Chairman Paul Adom-Otchere released a moving video of his emotional reunion with his family after being released from custody at the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
Less than 24 hours after he left the OSP, the 10-minute video was made public. This provides a unique look into the psychological effects of his recent legal ordeal, which is related to an ongoing inquiry into a contentious GACL contract.
The video, which has gone viral online, shows Paul Adom-Otchere having a meaningful conversation with his wife.
His wife disclosed during their talk that prominent people had shown a great deal of sympathy and solidarity.
Former President Nana Akufo-Addo, former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and his spouse, Samira, were among those mentioned.
The video also features well-wishes from a large number of additional supporters, highlighting Adom-Otchere’s wide-ranging connections and clout in the media and political spheres.
In relation to a revenue assurance agreement between the GACL and a private company, the OSP invited Adom-Otchere.
The investigation focuses on claims that, while he was chairman, this important contract was given out without the GACL board’s full and appropriate consent.
He apparently failed to meet bail criteria, notably stating that he did not own any landed property in Ghana, which is a customary condition frequently imposed in such instances to assure an accused’s attendance during investigations. As a result, the OSP detained him.
Despite being tasked with investigating and prosecuting corruption and corruption-related offenses, the OSP’s detention authority and bail requirements have periodically generated controversy.
