The Nogokpo Traditional Authorities and Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, the founder of Perez Chapel International, have reportedly been approached by the National Peace Council (NPC) in an effort to reach “an amicable resolution.”

This follows Charles Agyinasare’s remarks in one of his summonses that went viral and incited the local Traditional Authorities.

He described Nogokpo as the Volta Region’s “demonic headquarters” during his summon.

The man of God later expressed regret, but the Nogokpo Traditional Authorities have given him two weeks to appear in front of them.

The Chairman of the Peace Council, Rev. Dr. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi, issued a statement on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, in which he stated: “The National Peace Council has noted with concern the current impasse between Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, the founder of Perez Chapel International, and Nogokpo Traditional Authorities.”

“The National Peace Council, in pursuit of its mandate to facilitate conflict prevention, appeals to the Nogokpo Traditional Authorities and Perez Chapel International to remain calm and not give in to provocations as efforts are being made to address the situation,” it continued. “Recognizing that the impasse if not quickly addressed may have consequences on peaceful coexistence and religious tolerance in the country.”

“The Council urges everyone who has been impacted by the impasse in any way to be cautious and restrained in their remarks and declarations on the subject.

In order to preserve the peace, stability, and integrity of our cherished nation, the Council further exhorts the media and everyone else who makes statements on the subject to show the utmost caution in their storytelling. The Volta Regional Peace Council has started the process of engaging the parties for amicable resolution, and we wish to let the public know about it.
