The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has announced new fuel price floors for the first pricing window of August 2026, setting updated benchmark prices for petrol, diesel, LPG, and other petroleum products across Ghana.
According to the NPA, the revised minimum ex-pump fuel prices will take effect from Tuesday, August 4, 2026, and remain valid until August 15, 2026.
Under the new pricing schedule, petrol will sell at a minimum ex-pump price of GH¢14.53 per litre, while diesel has been pegged at GH¢14.97 per litre. Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) will retail from GH¢11.06 per kilogramme, providing the latest benchmark for consumers and fuel retailers.
The Authority also fixed the minimum ex-pump price for Marine Gas Oil (MGO Local) at GH¢16.08 per litre, while kerosene has been priced at GH¢14.46 per litre.
In a statement issued on August 3, 2026, the National Petroleum Authority directed all Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and LPG Marketing Companies (LPGMCs) to comply with the newly approved fuel price floors throughout the first pricing window of August.
The NPA clarified that the announced figures represent only the minimum ex-pump prices and do not include additional costs such as premiums charged by International Oil Trading Companies (IOTCs), operating margins of Bulk Import, Distribution and Export Companies (BIDECs), or the marketing and dealer margins applied by OMCs and LPGMCs.
According to the Authority, these additional charges will continue to be determined independently by the respective companies in line with the Petroleum Product Pricing Guidelines (PPPG).
The latest fuel price update provides a nationwide benchmark for petroleum retailers while allowing industry players to apply approved operational costs within Ghana’s petroleum pricing framework.
