Police are looking for seven people who fled from police cells in Nkwanta South.

Seven male suspects who broke out of their cells at the Nkwanta South Divisional Police Station are being sought by police.

Afu Danjumah, a 20-year-old woman who was the seventh fugitive, has already been apprehended.

Afu apparently tried to commit suicide by drinking some bleach before being found by the police. As a result, she has been sent urgently to the Nkwanta South Municipal Hospital for care.

The event reportedly took place on Tuesday, April 4, at around 2200 hours, while the on-duty female police officer was going to lock the cells. The accused charged at her, overpowered her, and then ran away.

Charles Dormaban, the division’s deputy commissioner of police, verified the occurrence when reached but declined to provide further details.
