Police in Abofrem, in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region, have arrested a pastor and his accused accomplice for allegedly trying to bury a baby alive in a startling occurrence that has caused indignation.
Apostle Dr. Richmond Akwasi Frimpong, the head pastor of the Anointed Grace Prayer Ministry in Kuffour Camp, and his collaborator are presently being held by the police.
Following a community member’s alarm, the two were taken into custody in Bibiani.
The informant reportedly saw the two digging a shallow pit while handling a baby under unusual circumstances, which prompted them to notify the authorities.
Winfred Agbah, an eyewitness, reported seeing the pastor and his accomplice in a trash dump with a baby under unsettling circumstances on Sunday, April 12, at around 11 p.m.
He claimed that after approaching them, he realised the infant was still alive, which led him to sound the alarm.
He stated, “The baby was not dead; they intended to bury the child alive for reasons best known to them,”
Nana Yaw Badu, the Chief Linguist of Abofrem, said that the pastor had previously told him that the kid had passed away and had asked for a place to be buried.
“I didn’t know the baby was still alive,” he continued.
The public has been reassured by Bibiani police that a comprehensive investigation is in progress and that the suspects will face legal consequences.
Since then, the infant has been brought to the Abofrem Clinic to get medical care.
