Six private security guards have been detained by the Ghana Police Service in relation to the shooting incident at Kwabenya that involved former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo.
Five pump-action weapons, one Taurus handgun with seven rounds of 9mm ammo, another magazine with five rounds of 9mm ammunition, and communication equipment were found during a search that followed the arrests.
Preliminary investigations indicate that special duty personnel from the National Operations Directorate and the Intelligence Directorate reacted to a distress call from a Kwabenya residence and went to the location.

According to the police, Ms. Safo arrived at the home of Mr. Tamakloe Safo Jehoshaphat, also known as Akofena, during a ceremony, but she was turned away.
Investigations also showed that Ms. Safo was hurt when armed security guards at the house reportedly fired guns during the event. Multiple gunshot marks were also discovered on her car.
To support ongoing investigations, the suspects and exhibits have been moved to the Police Headquarters. According to the police, they are working to find and apprehend everyone else involved in the event.
