As part of its investigation of Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng’s 37-page galamsey report, which would be used to create a docket for prosecution, the police agency has written to him.

Attorney General Godfred Dame made this known.
In order to dispel the notion that he has distanced himself from the situation, he stated that the docket would soon arrive to his office so that the already-started due process could proceed.

While serving as the minister of environment, science, technology, and innovation, Prof. Frimpong-Boateng, the chair of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining, accused some government officials and appointees present at Jubilee House of engaging in galamsey as well as obstructing his efforts to combat it.

He identified Mr. Lord Commey, director of operations at the presidency, as one of the key figures driving galamsey in the nation.

The renowned heart surgeon also charged Mr. Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, a relative of the president, with interfering with committee efforts to prevent Imperial Heritage Limited from destroying some forest areas through illegal mining operations.

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the minister of information, organized media attacks against Prof. Frimpong-Boateng, according to Prof. Frimpong-Boateng, in an effort to harm President Nana Akufo-Addo’s perception of him in the fight against galamsey.

Additionally, Mr. Joseph Albert Quarm, a former member of parliament for Manso Nkwanta, was identified by Professor Frimpong-Boateng as being deeply involved in illicit mining. All of them have refuted the accusations.

The attorney general addressed the issue and stated that while he is interested in the report, he wants due process to be followed to avoid being accused of “railroading” it.

“I am interested in it, but obviously, there are several fora that have been mentioned: I understand how the OSP and CHRAJ view it. What would you think if I were to see the report right now in my capacity as Attorney General? He said to Kojo Yankson, “I’m sure that will lead to all kinds of suspicions.

I believe I have the ability to see the report, but if I do, the same media will characterize me as the government’s attorney. Yes, let it be examined by impartial parties, said Mr. Dame.

He said that his assistance was not required right away because the docket would eventually end up on his desk.

So in reality, I haven’t cut myself off from the process; I take part in it. Just the proper procedure will need to be followed. He cautioned the media against hastily sanctifying the findings.

However, I would want to issue the media with the following warning and admonition: “Until the report has passed the legal test, do not elevate it or accord it any sanctity.”
