Nine new Ambassadors and High Commissioners have sent letters of credence to the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, as they commence their tour of duty in Ghana.
They are the Apostolic Nuncio, Very Reverend Monsignor Julien Kabore of the Holy See, Mr. Roey Gilad from the State of Israel, Mr. Khalid Jabr Saif Al-Mosallam from the State of Qatar, Mrs. Mariana Goncalves Madeira from the Federative Republic of Brazil, Mr. Angel Lossada Torres-Quevedo from the Kingdom of Spain, and Mrs. Juliet Bynoe Sutherland from Barbados.
Mr. Gaston Gakoso from the Republic of Congo, Mr. Jurgen Heissel from the Republic of Austria, and Ms. Myriam Montrat from the Republic of Canada make up the remaining group.
The envoys promised to improve the already friendly ties between Ghana and their respective nations during separate presentation events on Thursday, November 7, 2024.
Each of them also sent a note of congratulations to Ghana from their respective heads of state and government on the appointment of Foreign Minister Ayorkor Botchwey as Commonwealth of Nations Secretary General.
In reference to the many years of friendship and collaboration between Ghana and their home countries, President Akufo-Addo expressed the hope that nations would find a way to “relate side by side” in order for world peace to prevail.
He promoted Ghana’s democratic credentials and her leading role as the continent’s center of peace and security.
The newly appointed Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, the Chief of Staff, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, and representatives from the Foreign Ministry and the Presidency were also in attendance.
