John Dramani Mahama, the President of the Republic of Ghana and the African Union’s (AU) Champion for African Financial Institutions, has travelled to Nairobi, Kenya, to take part in the high-level France-Africa collaboration gathering known as the Africa Forward Summit.

In order to promote cooperation on sustainable development and economic resilience, French President Emmanuel Macron hosted a summit that brought together African heads of state, world leaders in industry, and international partners.

This morning, Tuesday, President Mahama will participate in a high-level debate on Green Industrialisation and Energy Transition. The goal of the meeting is to confront the global climate issue and map out a course for Africa’s industrial development.

Later in the day, President Mahama will attend a working lunch focused on the Reform of the International Financial Architecture, reflecting his strategic role as the AU Champion for African Financial Institutions.

Improving African nations’ access to sustainable funding and making sure the international financial system is more fair and sensitive to the particular requirements of the continent will be the main topics of discussion.

President Mahama, who is in charge of the Accra Reset Initiative, will co-chair a Round Table on Health titled “Rethinking global health and building resilient national health systems” in addition to his economic commitments.

President Mahama has a number of important bilateral engagements planned on the fringes of the summit.

These include discussions with Alvaro Lario, President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and H.E. António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations.

Global cooperation, economic stability, and food security in Ghana and Africa will be the main topics of discussion during these gatherings.

In the evening on Tuesday, President Mahama is anticipated to depart Nairobi and head back to Accra.
