Roads Minister Governs Agbodza has refuted accusations that construction work on the Accra–Kumasi bypass has been suspended, claiming that President John Mahama has not asked any contractor to cease work.

The Minister denounced circulating claims of a putative suspension of the project as incorrect and advised the public to dismiss them.

In a robust clarification delivered on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 in Parliament, Mr Agbodza reiterated that the government remained completely committed to the current construction on the important roadway.

Contrary to reports that the project had been halted for administrative or political reasons, he claims that contractors are still on site and moving forward on time.

He emphasized that the Accra–Kumasi corridor, which serves millions of commuters and maintains trade between the country’s northern and southern regions, is still an essential national route.

He stated that as a result, the Mahama administration views the bypass project as a top priority and will not take any steps to postpone its completion.

The Roads Minister also asked the public to trust Ministry-verified information instead of unsupported assertions on social media.

He cautioned that false claims run the risk of eroding the trust of contractors working on the project and causing needless concern among drivers.

Mr. Agbodza reiterated the government’s dedication to enhancing the country’s road system and gave Ghanaians the assurance that transparent updates on the Accra–Kumasi bypass’s progress will be provided.

As development on the important route progresses, he urged stakeholders to support the Ministry’s efforts.
