BIG PUSH UPDATE: Reconstruction Of Dodowa-Afienya-Dawhenya Road & Selected Town Roads

The initiative to rebuild the Dodowa-Afienya-Dawhenya and some town roads is moving forward at a steady pace.

The project is scheduled to be finished by December 4, 2027, having started on December 5, 2025.

The project is ahead of schedule with 35% of the work completed.

The project’s scope consists of:

• 24.8 km Single Carriageway asphaltic concrete Road with shoulders and walkways

• 4km Dual carriageway at Dodowa, Afienya and Dawhenya junctions

• 40m Span 4-Lane Concrete Bridge over River Detsedor at Afienya

• Bridge at Ch 9+540 – 8m X 4m 30m slab (0.7m thick) walls 0.6m thick

• 8No. major box culverts and 28 pipe culverts

• 28.7 km of Concrete U-drains (various sizes)

*Additional Scope*

• 550m storm drain 1.6m x 1.3m high

• 40m length 8m X 4m Outfall Concrete lined Channel

When the project is finished, it will act as a vital bridge connecting settlements like Dodowa, Afienya, and Dawhenya.

Additionally, the corridor would facilitate the flow of commodities, particularly between Accra and other districts.

As part of an inspection trip of several projects in the Greater Accra Region, Hon. Kwame Agbodza, Minister of Roads and Highways, stopped by the project site.

Hon. Agbodza stated that he was pleased with the timely delivery of high-quality work, with some areas already demonstrating notable progress.

He praised Oswal Investment Group, the contractor, for their dedication and asked them to keep up the pace in order to guarantee the project’s prompt completion for the benefit of nearby communities and road users.
