Work on the Bolgatanga–Polimakom Road Project in Ghana’s Upper East Region is set to resume as contractors begin remobilising to site following delays caused by outstanding payments.
The 117.94-kilometre road project connects several communities and districts, including Bolgatanga, Nabdam, Zebilla, Binduri, Bawku and Pusiga. Construction had reached approximately 67% completion before work was temporarily suspended.

President John Dramani Mahama inspected the road project on Saturday during his Resetting Ghana Tour of the Upper East Region. He assured contractors that the government would facilitate timely payments to ensure the project progresses and is completed within the expected timeframe.
The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza, also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completing the project as part of efforts to improve road infrastructure and transportation in the region.
The Bolgatanga–Bawku-Polimakom road forms part of several major infrastructure projects being pursued under the government’s Big Push Programme, which seeks to accelerate road construction, improve connectivity and support economic development across Ghana.
