President John Dramani Mahama will attend the first Davos meeting of the Accra Reset on Thursday, January 22nd, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting.
According to Mr Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Presidential Spokesman and Minister of State in-charge of Government Communications, the President chairs the Presidential Council of the Accra Reset, a Global South initiative aimed at strengthening sovereign capacity and reimagining international cooperation in the face of unprecedented global challenges.
Other members of the Presidential Council who will attend the side event are Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Kenyan President William Samoei Ruto, and Democratic Republic of Congo President Felix Tshisekedi.

It stated that Prime Minister James Marape would represent Papua New Guinea and Vice President Kashim Shettima would represent Nigeria.
Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, former New Zealand Prime Minister Madam Helen Clark, former Mauritian President Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, and former Liberian President Eilen Johnson-Sirleaf comprise the Guardians Circle of the Accra Reset, according to the statement.
According to the statement, after the initiative was presented in the 2025 UN General Assembly and approved at the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg, the Meeting would begin priority programs.
The Accra Reset is appropriate given the escalating great-power rivalry, the failure of international aid programs, unheard-of trade tensions, and the crises of pandemics, conflicts, climate shocks, and rising living expenses.
It stated that President Mahama views the Accra Reset as a supplement to the Resetting Ghana Agenda, his domestic agenda.
It reaffirmed Ghana’s recognition as a founding member that both domestic changes and a more equitable international system are necessary for efficient national government.
According to the statement, President Mahama has repeatedly highlighted that sovereignty entails the ability to carry out national goals while forming strategic alliances that further shared interests, especially within Africa and throughout the Global South.
