The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah, is scheduled to leave the prestigious medical center by the end of next week.

The decision was made following a friendly discussion with Health Minister Mr. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.

The Minister expressed gratitude on behalf of the government to Prof. Addai-Mensah for his outstanding devotion and hard work, which greatly aided in KATH’s development into a cutting-edge medical facility.

In addition, he thanked him personally for the hospital treatment he had after a near-fatal accident in 2024 and praised the departing CEO for his leadership throughout that time.

The government is thought to have found a replacement, who is scheduled to start work the following week.

Prof. Addai-Mensah was appointed in November 2022 and has two years left on his tenure.

The historic Hekap Project, a thorough remodeling program aiming at modernizing the hospital’s infrastructure, was implemented during his tenure, which is largely considered to have been transformative.

KATH had major reforms under his direction, including management and employee orientation programs.

His imaginative leadership and hands-on style made him a household figure in the health sector very fast.

Because of his efforts, the hospital currently has over 20 dialysis machines, compared to just two in 2022.

He also managed a number of retooling initiatives and the building of a cutting-edge pharmaceutical complex.

A term characterized by innovation, infrastructural expansion, and a renewed emphasis on high-quality patient care is reflected in Prof. Addai-Mensah’s legacy at KATH.
