The University of Ghana (UG) has elected Prof. Ransford Gyampo as the new president of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG).
Prof. Gyampo won the position with an amazing 93.3% of the total valid votes cast, promising to vigorously represent the interests of his fellow academics.
When he assumed control of UTAG, Prof. Gyampo declared his intention to vigorously and actively advance the interests of his colleagues.
Invoking his prior role as General Secretary, he acknowledged the difficulties—and even the potential loss of friendships—that would occur as he works to improve the situation for university instructors.
Prof. Gyampo highlighted in a message on his above Facebook Wall that he is committed to acting in the best interests of his constituency and that his aims are to enhance the welfare of the academic community, not to harm any particular regime.
