A stakeholder consultative conference was organized by the Fisheries Commission and the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture to evaluate and enhance adherence to the ban on new canoe building.

The Forestry Commission, academia, fisher associations, and the Canoe Carvers Association were among the important parties that attended the meeting to discuss how to improve enforcement and advance sustainable fisheries management in Ghana.

Prof. Benjamin Betey Campion, Executive Director of the Fisheries Commission, stressed the value of stakeholder cooperation in safeguarding Ghana’s maritime resources.
