On Tuesday, the suspects in the theft case involving Cecilia Dapaah’s home are anticipated to return to court.

Since the charge sheet was modified by police prosecutors on the Attorney General’s suggestion, this will be their second court appearance.

For their alleged involvement in the over $1 million and 300,000 Euros allegedly stolen from the home of the former Sanitation Minister, eight people have so far been charged with theft and conspiracy to steal.

On August 8, seven of the eight defendants were presented in court; one is reportedly on the run.

Due to their nursing infants, two of the seven people charged with a crime were given bail; the other five were held in custody.

Two housekeepers of the former minister and her husband, Daniel Osei Kuffour, are indicted by an Accra Circuit Court on charges of stealing millions of Ghanaian cedis’ worth of goods and splitting the loot with others.

On July 22, Madam Dapaah resigned in the wake of a public outcry. On July 24, 2023, representatives from the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) arrested the former minister and searched her home.

The OSP had said that during the search, its officers had discovered a sizeable amount of US$590,000 and GHC2.730,000 in cash. The OSP has also frozen her seven bank accounts.
