Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has demanded complete adherence to the Bawku mediation process’s conclusions and insisted that the submitted report be legally obligatory on all parties.
As part of continuous efforts to bring about enduring peace in the region, the Asantehene delivered the mediation report to President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday, December 16, at the Jubilee House. He emphasised that the procedure was solely mediation and not arbitration.
“I am here to present the facts as they are so that we can achieve peace. I am not here to pass judgment on who is right or wrong. It was mediation, not arbitration, and the report should bind all of us,” he stated.
Otumfuo thanked President Mahama for trusting him to spearhead the resolution of the protracted chieftaincy conflict.
Earlier in 2025, President Mahama appointed the Asantehene to supervise mediation attempts to end the long-running conflict in Bawku.
In order to establish the foundation for communication, separate meetings with representatives of the opposing groups were held in April 2025, marking the official start of the process.
The negotiations restarted in May 2025 after a brief hiatus, and they have since helped bring about a period of relative peace in the Bawku municipality.
