The Minister of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has received a working visit from Austria’s ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Jürgen Heissel, to explore possible areas of cooperation and knowledge sharing in promoting social protection, gender equality, and inclusive development.

Important topics like cybersecurity, domestic abuse, child rights, and the well-being of marginalized communities were discussed.

The Minister underlined the Ministry’s interdisciplinary role and its willingness to form solid alliances with regional and global partners.

The Ministry is now developing a Legislative Instrument to assist in the official and informal sectors’ implementation of the Affirmative Action Act, she disclosed.

Women will have more representation and equitable opportunity in leadership and governance as a result, she claimed.

In order to promote an inclusive and equal society, the Minister also discussed recent initiatives, such as the opening of a childcare facility to assist working moms and the updated National Gender Policy.

The promotion of positive masculinity, the significance of gender-responsive statistics for policymaking, and the incorporation of gender- and child-related issues into national development planning were among the other major topics covered.

Both sides reiterated their dedication to enhancing collaboration in support of common objectives pertaining to child safety, gender equality, and the empowerment of marginalized groups.
