The findings of the August 6 military helicopter crash, which killed eight people, including two cabinet members, will be presented to the public at a media conference on Tuesday, according to the administration.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, November 9, 2025, Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister in charge of Government Communication, stated that the report will be given to the National Security Council on Monday before being made public.

Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Limuna Muniru, NDC Vice Chairman Samuel Sarpong, NADMO Deputy Director-General Samuel Aboagye, and three crew members perished in the helicopter crash.

Background

On the morning of August 6, while travelling from Accra to Obuasi in the Ashanti Region, the Z-9 utility helicopter disappeared off radar.

To look into the incident, a 30-day investigative board led by National Security Coordinator Abdul-Osman Razak was established, along with technical advisors from the US Air Force.

Coming Up

President John Dramani Mahama is scheduled to introduce the Nkoko nkitinkiti poultry program in Kumasi on Wednesday during what Mr. Ofosu referred to as “a very important week coming up.”

In an effort to lower Ghana’s yearly import expenditure of over $300 million for chicken, which presently supplies 95% of the nation’s consumption, the program aims to include 55,000 families in poultry farming.

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson will deliver the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament on Thursday, November 13, 2025.

The budget is anticipated to include tax reforms, such as a plan to lower the VAT rate from 22% to 20%, as well as initiatives to promote economic growth and create jobs.

As Ghana gets ready to leave the IMF program in May 2026, the 2026 Budget will be thoroughly examined, with special focus on how the government plans to handle the fiscal deficit and debt payment commitments.
